Experience
2004-present - Network Administrator at High School
I took on this part-time job after closing down my computer consulting business.
My daily tasks include Maintaining 4 Servers (3 SLES Servers, 1 Windows 2003 Server), 150+ Workstations and Dozens of Laptops. Most computers dual-boot between Windows XP and Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop allowing the students and staff a choice in their daily work.
After the first year of employment, I transitioned the school's servers from Microsoft's NT4 Server to Suse Linux Enterprise Server. During my employment I have upgraded all schools computers and servers while only utilizing 1/2 of the allotted budget.
1999-present - Network Administrator at Engineering Company
I transitioned the main server from NT4 Server to Windows 2000 Server/Exchange Server, then finally to Suse Linux Enterprise Server. Daily tasks include maintaining 3 Servers (2 SLES and 1 Win2k Server), 40+ Workstations and a few Laptops.
In 2002 the company went through a down-sizing operation, at that time I voluntarily went to part-time employment.
2002-2004 - Computer Consulting Business
I started my own consulting business that focused mostly on small business networks. After struggling for the first year, I decided to take on personal computer sales & repair.
With the various problems of customers not paying and the repeat (non-billable) service calls due to virus and Adware problems I decided to close the business.
1996-1999 - Computer Tech / Net Admin at Service Company
I maintained various Windows NT 4 and Novell 3.x Network Servers for area businesses. I also maintained quite a few networked workstations, including 50+ computers for a local hospital.
In 1999 the company was sold to another business, at that time the computer service department was closed down to focus on the copier service department.
